REMEMBER ALL THE THINGS
Written By: Christie Mannin

Without God my life would be so different.
God has touched every area of my life and made it new.

It is too easy to think that our freedom is because of something that we have done, but it’s not anything we’ve done! We are only free from the bondage of sin because God sent down His Son to take our punishment. So, we are called to remember what our life was like before God and what it would be like without Him.

Part of remembering what God has done for us, is to remember Jesus in His death on the cross.

  • 1 Peter 2:24 says “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness, by his wounds you have been healed.

  • John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

  • Scriptures teach us how to remember his sacrifice by the physical act of taking communion. 1 Corinthians 11:24 says “and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “this is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper, he took the cup, saying “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.

He must’ve known we would have a hard time remembering on our own, so he gave us the practice and a meal to do that would help us remember. How often do we go about our day to day lives and completely forget that Jesus loves us more than we could possibly imagine and that He died to save us and without His death, we would still be slaves to sin? There is no way we could ever earn this gift on our own. When I sit still and take time to think about the fact that JESUS DIED FOR ME, I am overwhelmed with gratitude…its pure awe + wonder!

Go ahead and place your name in this statement…
JESUS DIED FOR _________________ (YOUR NAME).

He forever rescued you from all the things you’ve done or could ever do so that you could spend eternity with Him.

During this Holy Week it is the perfect time to disrupt your normal routine and to stop and remember all that God has done for you, all the things he’s saved you from and saved you for. Take time to remember and thank Jesus.

REFLECTION + NEXT STEPS

  1. Spend time today praying…“here I am…disrupt me God and fill me awe and wonder.”

  2. Write down in your journal or in your phone at least 10 things (all the things) you want to remember and give thanks for today.
